Present Indefinite Tense (Simple Present Tense)

Definition:

The Present Indefinite Tense is used to describe:

• Regular actions or habits
• General truths
• Universal facts
• Scheduled events

                      Structure of this Tense

Subject	Verb (Base Form)	Object
I/You/We/They	play	football.
He/She/It	plays	football.

Note: Add ‘-s’ or ‘-es’ to the verb when the subject is He, She, or It.

Rules of Present Indefinite Tense:

🔹 Affirmative Sentences:

• Subject + Base Verb (+s/es) + Object
  • I eat breakfast at 8 AM.
  • She goes to school.

🔹 Negative Sentences:

• Subject + do/does + not + Base Verb + Object
  • I do not eat meat.
  • He does not like tea.

🔹 Interrogative Sentences:

• Do/Does + Subject + Base Verb + Object?
  • Do you play cricket?
  • Does she read books?

Note:

• Use ‘does’ for He/She/It
• Use ‘do’ for I/You/We/They
• Verb stays in base form in negative and interrogative.

 Examples:

• The sun rises in the east. 🌅
• Birds sing in the morning. 🎶
• He does not watch TV. 📺
• Do they come here often? 🏡
